Degenerative disc disease is really related to a biomechanical issue with the spine, a biomechanical misalignment. Chiropractic adjustments are exactly that. They are a biomechanical readjustment or a realignment of the spine that is going to create a process known as imbibition of the disc, which is going to hydrate the disc.
We have decompression tables at our office as well. That decompression table is going to actually distract the spine. It is going to cause a negative pressure within that disc to suck material, suck fluids back into that disc. Most people don’t realize the disc has no blood supply. Blood supply is carrying oxygen, minerals and nutrients and it is getting rid of wastes. If the disc has no blood supply, how does it do that? It does that through that pump mechanism known as imbibition. We can recreate that with the adjustments by getting that segment mobile again and we can also help with that effect using decompression tables.
